About El Salvador

HIV infection rates in El Salvador have increased significantly in recent years. Pregnant women and their babies are experiencing the fastest increase in infection rates. The increase in transmission among young people is also a concern.

New Dawn Association of El Salvador (ANAES)

New Dawn Association of El Salvador (ANAES)
The New Dawn Association is a Christian organization working in the area of social development. ANAES operates pre-school and health-care centers, and has seen an increase in HIV/AIDS among its clientele. ANAES works with people living with HIV/AIDS, providing on-going support and care for both children and adults. In a society where the stigma associated with the disease is still very high, the visits and encouragement that patients receive from ANAES is a valuable part of their treatment. The association also provides in-depth training to 75 community-based health promoters, who do on-going HIV/AIDS education in their communities. In 2008, it trained 422 people to work with PLWHA. Today, 3046 people from 32 communities understand basic HIV/AIDS facts.

$9 Cdn./$8 U.S. per month provides money for doctors visits for one patient.

$46 Cdn./$40 U.S. per month provides supplemental food to a person living with HIV/AIDS and her family.
